Every single-origin coffee we carry has been selected for its distinct flavor profile and sourced from importers who know and support the farms that produce it. We air-roast each one in small batches, matched to what the origin and processing method calls for — not a one-size-fits-all approach.

What makes His Word Coffee different from grocery store coffee?
While grocery store coffee can sit on shelves for months after roasting, our coffee is roasted to order—meaning your beans are roasted within 1-3 days of your purchase. We also use air roasting instead of drum roasting, which produces cleaner, brighter flavors without the burnt or bitter notes common in mass-produced coffee. The difference is like comparing fresh-baked bread to week-old bread.
What is air roasted coffee and why is it better?
Air roasting (also called fluid bed roasting) uses hot air to suspend and roast the coffee beans, unlike traditional drum roasting which tumbles beans on a hot metal surface. This produces more even roasting, removes chaff completely, and results in coffee with cleaner, brighter flavor notes and reduced bitterness. Air roasted coffee also stays fresher longer because there's less residual oil on the surface.
Should I buy whole bean or ground coffee?
For the freshest cup, we recommend whole bean coffee ground just before brewing. Whole beans stay fresh for 2-4 weeks, while ground coffee is best within 1-2 weeks. However, we fresh-grind our coffee just before shipping, so our ground coffee is still far fresher than anything you'll find in stores. Choose the grind size that matches your brewing method: coarse for French press, medium for drip, medium-fine for pour-over, or fine for espresso.
What's the difference between single origin and blend coffee?
Single origin coffees come from one specific region, farm, or cooperative, showcasing the unique terroir of that place—like our Ethiopian Guji with its distinctive berry and floral notes. Blends combine beans from multiple origins to create balanced, consistent flavor profiles—like our House Blend which brings together Latin American sweetness with East African brightness. Both are excellent; single origins are great for exploring unique flavors while blends offer reliable everyday enjoyment.
How should I store my coffee to keep it fresh?
Store your coffee in an airtight container in a cool, dark place—never in the refrigerator or freezer, as moisture and temperature changes degrade flavor. Our resealable bags work well, or transfer to a dedicated coffee canister. Keep away from heat, light, and strong odors. For best results, buy amounts you'll use within 2-3 weeks. Coffee doesn't "go bad" after this time, but peak flavor diminishes gradually.
Do you offer decaf coffee?
Yes! Our Veracruz Decaf uses the Mountain Water Process, which removes caffeine using pure water without any chemicals. This preserves the coffee's full flavor—you won't believe it's decaf. It's perfect for evening enjoyment, caffeine-sensitive individuals, or anyone who loves great coffee without the buzz. Mountain Water Process removes 99.9% of caffeine while maintaining all the delicious flavor compounds.
Do you have low-acid coffee for sensitive stomachs?
Our Haiti Hope Rising is naturally low in acid—no chemical treatment required. The Blue Mountain Typica varietal, high-altitude growing conditions, and our air roasting process all contribute to its gentle profile. Many customers with acid reflux or GERD have found they can enjoy this coffee without discomfort. It delivers full specialty coffee flavor with none of the harshness.
